About us

Who we are

Bwiti Roots is a Non Profit organisation with the sole purpose to preserve and protect ancestral Gabonese Bwiti culture.

Our NGO is dedicated to supporting Bwiti communities in Gabon. The Bwiti people have a rich spiritual and cultural tradition that has been passed down through generations, and we believe in the importance of preserving and supporting this tradition.

We work closely with Bwiti communities to provide resources and support for community development, education, and health. Our programs focus on empowering community members and building capacity for sustainable development, while respecting and honoring the Bwiti culture and traditions.

We also recognize the important role that Iboga plays in the Bwiti spiritual tradition, and we support responsible and respectful use of Iboga for spiritual and healing purposes. We believe that the Bwiti people have a deep understanding of the power of nature and plants, and we seek to learn from and share their knowledge with the wider world.

Through our partnerships with Bwiti communities, we aim to foster cross-cultural exchange and understanding, and to promote greater respect for cultural diversity and traditional knowledge. We believe that by supporting Bwiti communities, we can contribute to a more just, equitable, and sustainable future for all.

Our approach

Our Mission
Our mission is to support the Bwiti people and their cultural and spiritual traditions in Gabon. We believe that the Bwiti culture and knowledge has immense value, and we are committed to working with Bwiti communities to promote their self-determination, well-being, and cultural resilience.

Through community-led programs and partnerships, we aim to strengthen the capacity of Bwiti communities for sustainable development, while honoring and preserving their unique cultural heritage. We recognize the vital role that Bwiti spiritual practices, including the use of iboga, play in the Bwiti way of life, and we support responsible and respectful use of these practices.

We provide a traditional Bwiti safe and supportive environment for individuals seeking personal transformation and healing through the traditional use of iboga. We believe that iboga has the potential to catalyze profound changes in one’s life, and we are committed to creating a space where individuals can fully engage with this powerful plant medicine in a traditional Bwiti setting.

We recognize the importance of respecting and honoring the Bwiti culture and tradition, and we strive to integrate these values and teachings into our retreat experience. Our aim is to provide a transformative journey that is grounded in deep reverence for the sacredness of life and the natural world.

100% of the revenue from our retreat programs are re-invested in the Bwiti communities in Gabon.

Our Vision
Our vision is a world in which the Bwiti people and their sacred knowledge of iboga are honored, respected, and preserved for future generations.

We envision a world where Bwiti communities have the resources and support they need to protect and promote the sustainable use of iboga, while maintaining their unique cultural heritage.

We believe that iboga has the potential to offer profound healing and transformation to individuals and communities around the world, and we are committed to preserving this sacred plant medicine in a responsible and respectful manner. Our vision is to work in partnership with Bwiti communities to promote responsible and sustainable use of iboga, while also respecting the cultural and spiritual traditions that are integral to its use.

We recognize the urgent need to protect the biodiversity of the iboga plant and its habitat, and we envision a world where iboga is cultivated and harvested in a way that respects and supports the natural environment. We believe that by promoting the sustainable use of iboga, we can contribute to a healthier and more vibrant natural world, while also supporting the well-being of Bwiti communities and those who seek the healing and transformative benefits of iboga.

Our ultimate vision is to create a world where the sacred knowledge of the Bwiti is preserved and protected, and where the use of iboga is respected and celebrated as a powerful tool for healing, personal transformation, and spiritual growth.
